Moved the office, did it in the wrong order

We moved our office last year and I did it backwards.

First I signed for the place, because the price was good and I did not want to lose it. Then I looked at where the people actually live. Four of eight were now an hour away. Two of them left before the year ended, and one told me straight that it was the commute.

Second mistake, I rented when I should have bought. A year of rent would have covered the first instalments on a unit two streets away, and the owner has put his price up since. A friend who does accounts here said it in one sentence afterwards and I felt stupid for a week.

What I do before signing anything now is watch how long the same unit stays listed. If it sits for four months the asking price is wrong and you can talk. I track that on https://yektahomes.com/ across a few months, it is slow, and it is the only honest number I have found.

The lift in the new building breaks every second week. That was not in the contract either.
